    After graduating from campus in 2006, Melissa sent out video resumes to 76 different companies but never found any work. She started working nights as a waitress at a nightclub. During the day, she took an internship with North American Media Group’s “North American Hunter” Television in Minnetonka, 150 miles (240 km) away from where she lived. After 4 months, she became a full-time producer for the show.

    At first, she did camera work and gave on-camera archery tips. Later, she started filming and editing her own hunts to be aired for free. After some time, she left the channel and founded her own production company called Deadly Passions Productions. In the company, she edited and did post-production work for hunting television shows including Dangerous Game.
